Summer Guide to Salt Lake City and Park City, Utah

In June of 2021 my husband and I set out to visit and hike in Grand Teton National Park. The cheapest flights we found were from ATL to SLC, so we decided to explore around Salt Lake City and Park City for a couple days before road tripping to Grand Teton National Park. Here is where we stayed and what we did for 48 hours in Salt Lake City and Park City, Utah!

Salt Lake City Our AirBnB : LINKED HERE

This was the perfect, affordable place for us to stay for our two nights in Salt Lake City! It was in a great location and the host was SO kind and thoughtful! We were vacationing for my birthday and she noticed it in our notes and she set up a tray of goodies and a Happy Birthday message for me when we walked in. So sweet! There were also so many snacks and things to treat ourselves to in the private apartment on the backside of this cute home. The hospitality was 10/10 and we were very impressed. I would totally book this stay again is we ever find ourselves back in SLC. Also the place itself was adorable which is always a plus to me :)

Food and Drink Spots in Salt Lake City: (links provided) Taqueria 27 (Downtown) -lunch

Gourmandise - breakfast Our most favorite was Taqueria 27 by far! Granted, we were STARVING from traveling ,but still it was great! Flatbread was pretty good, I wouldn't say it was the BEST pizza I'd ever had, but we enjoyed it and its in a cute part of town and right next door to Hopkins Brewing which was yummy and had fun vibes! Definitely worth a stop. Parking wasn't easy so just be prepared to circle around a little bit if you're going during peak meal time. Gourmandise was delicious! I was so excited to go because I had heard great things about it. We got there as soon as they opened on a Saturday morning before driving off to Park City, Utah. Of course we grabbed a brownie and a chocolate chip cookie to-go!

Things to do in an afternoon in Salt Lake City:

Salt Lake City wasn't the main focus of our trip, but we still wanted to explore some of the popular things to do. Here are some cool things you can do if you have an afternoon to explore like us: Temple Square -see the famous cathedral

City Creek Shopping Center - a really cool place with an indoor/outdoor shopping experience

Public Library - cool architecture! From here we headed out to eat!

Things to do and places to eat in Park City, Utah:

Park City is about a 45 minute drive outside of Salt Lake City. It's a cool "ski town" that also has fun things to do in the summer! It doesn't have the "big city" feel that Salt Lake City has, it is much more chill and down-to-earth. First we stopped by Utah Olympic Park. The Winter Olympics were hosted here, and they covert most things in the summer so you can still enjoy some adrenaline rush activities! UTAH OLYMPIC PARK WEBSITE

Check out their website to see all they have to offer in the Summer! You'd probably want to book these excursions before your trip. We just went on a whim but there was a long line of people waiting to redeem their tickets they got online and some of the bigger activities were booked up for the day. You can zip line, go on a ropes course, try the Alpine slide, or even do the bobsled experience on the actual Olympic bobsled route with a professional driver! We didn't do this, but I wish we did! We got tickets for EXTREME TUBING! You'll go up a chair lift to the top of the mountain and walk a pathway next to the alpine slide and then jump in a rubber tube to get hurled down an Olympic downhill ski slope. It was very fun and also very terrifying! If you would define yourself as a thrill-seeker then this is definitely for you! You get 2 rides with your ticket. You start on the smaller one to the right and then if you want to brave it up and go to the taller one in the middle you can. (I did not haha).

LUNCH @ Five5eeds Five5eeds Website Some friends of ours suggested we go to Five5eeds and I am so thankful for that tip because it was AMAZING! If you're in Park City you have to plan to go. It is a small space and having to wait is probably common, so get there an hour or so before you'd really like to eat and put your name in. It will be worth it!!! This is a breakfast & lunch only spot.

From here we headed over a few minutes drive to Olde Town Park City. It's a beautiful Main Street area with a lot of shops, galleries, and restaurants. Check out to see if there are any fun events or festivals going on it town when you plan to visit. We really enjoyed going into the galleries and the shops!

For our last stop of the day we went to High West Distillery and Tasting Room. We almost didn't go, but I'm so glad we did! It was a fun experience and so gorgeous! It's about 30 minutes from Olde Town Park City. You'll arrive to the parking lot and from there you take a shuttle bus up the hill to the distillery. There weren't tours available and we didn't plan one before, but I bet that would be a fun thing to do! We just went and enjoyed the restaurant, a flight of their whiskies, and walking around the property.

That concluded our Summer Day in Park City, Utah! Now...off to Grand Teton National Park! You can find my info about that trip HERE!
