Visiting Lower Antelope Canyon and Horseshoe Bend

Updated: May 19, 2022

Antelope Canyon and Horseshoe Bend are two of Arizona's top Instagram photo spots. The pictures you'll find of these landmarks are amazing, but there's nothing like seeing each of them in person! It's home to the most expensive photograph ever sold and known as the famous Windows wallpaper!

Antelope Canyon is located in Page, AZ. It is separated into "Upper" and "Lower"

Here's How to Visit Lower Antelope Canyon. To tour through LAC you have to take a guided tour because the canyon is located on a Navajo preserve. We used Ken's Tours located right at Lower Antelope Canyon. A 1 hour tour it costs $50.

The canyon is under that crack!

The guides lead your group down into the slot and they do a great job of spacing out, giving everyone opportunity for pictures, taking pictures for you, and showing you how to adjust your cameras/phones to get the best shots! They know where all of the popular "sculptures" are like the "Shark Head" the "Woman in the Wind" and the "Mountain Range" *Pictured Above. I did try to stick to the back of our tour group so I could just wait my turn and not feel rushed to let someone come up behind me to take pictures. I loved exploring Lower Antelope so much I told my husband I would turn right back around and pay again! Every nook and cranny is its own piece of art. It is so unassuming when you first walk up because it just looks like a crack in the ground that opens up to a whole other world the further you go. Antelope Canyon is a MUST SEE to put on your Arizona Trip Itinerary. Scroll these gorgeous photos that, yes, I took on my iPhone!

Horseshoe Bend is located in Page, Arizona.

You can visit in Antelope Canyon and Horseshoe Bend in the same day. It's only a 15 minute drive outside Page to get to Horseshoe Bend. My husband and I actually went to visit twice, once in the afternoon and then again in the evening because we wanted to see it as the sun went down! You can plan to spend about an hour or so here. It is a short "hike", about 1 mile from the parking lot, up a sandy pathway to the edge where you can view the Colorado River creating a horseshoe shape in the canyon. It is really fun to explore around and climb on the rocks and get different view points. It can get pretty crowded there, but thankfully it is a wide open area, so it isn't hard to find your own place to set up and get some pictures. It's hard to explain how massive the the bend is! You just have to go and see it for yourself!

Glen Canyon National Recreation Area charges a fee to enter. Fees are per vehicle or per motorcycle. For more information visit https://www.nps.gov/glca/planyourvisit/fees.htm. Located in the Paria Canyon-Vermilion Cliffs Wilderness Area, Horseshoe Bend is about 5 miles south of Carl Hayden Visitor Center. On U.S. Highway 89 just south of highway marker 545, turn at the sign onto the dirt road which ascends the small hill. Pay attention because it can be easy to drive past! Park at the base of the hill, it’s a decently sized lot so you shouldn't have problem finding parking.
